CRWP's mission is to engage people in protecting and improving the water quality and natural systems of the Cannon River watershed. We envision a watershed with water that is fishable, drinkable and swimmable.

We are governed by a 25 member board of directors made up of community members and elected officials from the six majority county commissioners and SWCD supervisors.
We have a small office in Northfield, but do work all over the Cannon River Watershed area in Southeastern Minnesota with our office in Northfield.

Hours: 40/week

Salary: $17.80-$25.00/hr

Coordinate CRWP’s urban stormwater education and outreach efforts to include preparing for and leading adopt-a-drain efforts, rain garden workshops, storm drain stenciling, mailings, recruit volunteers, staff booths at educational and outdoor events, and other duties as per contracts and grants.
Coordinate CRWP’s Annual Watershed Wide Cleanup to include recruiting site leaders, volunteers, supplies, and attending the event.
Coordinate CRWP’s Master Water Steward program including recruiting participants, coordinating with Freshwater Society and teaching evening class sessions Assiste Executive Director to plan and carry out CRWP's fundraising and membership recruitment events such as Downstream Environmental Film Series and pursue other opportunities for new event partnerships
Write, develop, and coordinate production and distribution of communication pieces including newsletters, brochures, and event materials to be submitted for approval by the Executive Director prior to being released
Maintain, update, and work with program staff to create content for the website (www.crwp.net)

Help build the organization’s brand through marketing and communications efforts
Work collaboratively with other staff to create effective communications strategies and plans
Assist with creating and implementing media plans to include press releases, radio, etc.
Develop content for and respond to social media including Facebook, blog posts, Twitter, etc.
Collect and analyze metrics related to our marketing and outreach efforts
Assist Executive Director as needed with fundraising activities, such as organizing mailings, setting appointments with donors, tracking fundraising appeal income, etc.
Database maintenance: fundraising, recording, processing, and acknowledging membership renewals and gifts
Some office maintenance (i.e. inventory and order supplies, equipment maintenance, etc.)
Communicate with volunteers regarding available volunteer opportunities
Other duties as assigned.

Required:


Bachelor’s degree in water resources, environmental studies, environmental education or related field
Volunteer Coordination
Strong organizational skills
Project management experience
Flexible and motivated
Strong communication skills and an ability to communicate technical information effectively, both verbally and in writing, with courtesy and tact.
Ability to meet with varied contacts, including local and regional government officials and employees, state agencies, consultants, contractors, public officials, property owners, interest groups and citizens.
Excellent writing, editing, proofing and verbal communications skills
Demonstrated skills in the use of social media (Facebook, Twitter), Vertical Response or other email newsletter publishing tool
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
Computer skills in Word and Excel
Proficient in personal computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point
Works well on a small team work environment and can stay on task when working independently
Detail oriented; able to handle multiple projects and prioritize as needed
Knowledge about the organization’s mission and programs
A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle

Preferred

Experience in website design/maintenance using WordPress or other website maintenance tool
Event Organizing experience
Proficiency or ability to learn Photoshop, InDesign or other similar software
Experience in a nonprofit communications or outreach role
Knowledge/experience with support of fundraising activities
Knowledge of stormwater issues and familiarity with the Master Water Steward program
Knowledge/experience with Cannon River Watershed region and communities

Engaging people across the watershed and beyond is a key aspect of Cannon River Watershed Partnership’s mission. The role of the Community Engagement and Office Coordinator will be to lead and manage activities that provide people with ways to be engaged in taking action for clean water and to help support CRWP.
Work is primarily sedentary, although there is some walking, travel, and carrying of lightweight items such as notebooks and work papers. There may be occasional need to lift items up to 50 pounds. Most work is performed in an office building and in an adequately lighted and climate controlled office. Work will require intermittent travel as well as evening and weekend meetings.
