Cigna's Analytics Department is a central, shared research and analytics service that enables fact-based decision making to enable our customer-centric strategy. As such, we identify opportunities, address problems, and answer questions with credible research and methodologies. Our 5 core competencies and scope of services are: · Advanced trend analytics to answer “what happened?” · Root cause statistical analyses to answer “why did this happen?” · Predictive modeling to answer “what will happen next, and under what circumstances?” · Data mining and pattern analysis to answer “where are the opportunities?” · Innovation processes and pilot campaigns to answer “how can we have more favorable impact on our customers?” Each of these questions is answered with a variety of quantitative and qualitative research and analytic competencies – from survey research, to customer interviews, to literature searches, to big data statistical analysis, to campaign management analytics, to a combination of many of these. By partnering with the business lines, these competencies enable efficient and effective decision making to allow us to constantly improve our customer experience and achieve our enterprise goals. The Role We are looking for experienced health services researchers, epidemiologists, econometricians, biostatisticians, actuaries, data analysts, and SAS programmers who can serve as internal consultants. The need is for qualified people who can identify program improvement opportunities, propose and test better evaluation methods, provide business requirements for production, design studies, understand relationships between program design and outcomes, aggregate and summarize data, identify issues with underlying and summary data, and produce trend and other reports. The targeted programs are diverse and include those related to health advocacy, disability, pharmacy, dental, medical homes/ACOs and physician contracting. The person in this job will be expected to have the requisite content knowledge related to contributing to understanding associated with evaluating program outcomes and care management and contracting analytics. This person will need to work closely with care management and network contracting leadership to help the organization understand what is working and what is not working through qualitative and survey research methods. The level of analysis will be at a program-level, but also at a level to understand which components of programs work as designed. This work includes development of surveys, interviews, sampling of populations, and the analysis of unstructured and structured data. Specific Responsibilities include: · Conduct qualitative and survey data evaluations associated with any of the following: medical management, health advocacy, benefit design and incentives, or physician contracting program outcomes · Align and consolidate as necessary disparate evaluation initiatives that require qualitative and survey work · Develop predictive algorithms · Prioritize and coordinate multiple work efforts · Supervise, coach, and develop colleagues · Support the finance and product teams by providing the appropriate insight to customers, clinicians and clients through this research · Support efforts by customer reporting, sales, and product departments to showcase program value · Support the operations team to provide effective insights into how programs impact participant engagement and outcomes from the point of view of the customer, the clinician and the client. Ideal Candidates Will Offer: · Advanced degree or equivalent and at least 5 years experience in related health care analytics Leadership competencies with the ability to collaborate with others and establish working relationships, communicate effectively across the organization and at different levels, think and act strategically, and influence key leaders · To influence, drive, and improve the areas above, the person in this position will need to be self-motivated and possess strong leadership qualities. · Translate business needs into practical applications and solutions · Deep healthcare data (e.g., groupers, profiling), statistical analysis experience, and demonstrated understanding of health care and delivery system processes · Working knowledge of program evaluation, pay for performance, predictive modeling, steerage, pharmacy and care management (DM / CM / medical home) best practices · Experience in managing the design, development, and continuous improvement of complex healthcare data systems, tools, and reports (working knowledge and experience implement Six Sigma or similar process improvement approaches a plus) Location: Hartford, CT (Willing to consider other areas for highly qualified candidates).
